Rev Terry Gurno

Senior Pastor, New Life Community Church

 

Terry was born in Long Beach, California, raised in the Seattle area, and at 20 years of age received Jesus Christ as his personal savior. Terry attended Northwest Bible College, earning his B.A. in Biblical Literature. Terry youth pastured five years in Kent, WA, and at Christ Memorial Church in Poulsbo, WA, for four years. His ministry included speaking in high school assemblies throughout the United States.

 

in 1997 Terry became executive pastor under founding pastor Bruce Miles at New Life Community Church in Rathdrum, ID. NLCC was only four years old when Terry joined the ministry team. After Pastor Bruce’s death in November 1999, Terry was installed as the senior pastor.

 

NLCC recently opened a second campus five miles from the home campus. Total combined attendance is now 2,600.

 

Terry has been married to Nancy for 16 years, and has three children: Chelsea — 12, Levi —10 and Alizabeth —7

 

As an adult child of an alcoholic, Terry understands the Hope that Jesus offers for EVERYONE. Terry communicates God’s love genuinely, relevantly and passionately.

 

Why Urban Outreach: Terry has brought ministry teams to work with Urban Outreach in DC from both the Seattle area as well as NLCC. Terry carries a deep commitment to the hurting people of the inner city. His support with teams and finance have demonstrated his desire to win many souls to the Kingdom in Washington, DC.



Rev. Larry Hickey

Senior Pastor, First Assembly of God

 

Larry Hickey has been in the ministry 28 years with the Assemblies of God. He has served in the District Office for 10 years as District Youth Director.

 

He and his wife pioneered a new church in Colonial Beach, Va. where he pastored for 6 years. He served 4 years on staff at First Assembly of God in Winchester as worship leader and youth pastor where he and his wife Lynda returned a second time serving as Senior Pastor to this present time

 

Larry’s present congregation numbers 600 to 700 people. Presently First Assembly is in the process of building a new facility,

 

Why Urban Outreach: Larry has shown a sensitivity and heartfelt burden for the needs of the inner city and has been a constant encouragement to the UO Team in their effort to reach Southeast Washington, DC.



Rev. Mark A. Lehmann

Senior Pastor, Cornerstone Assembly

 

Graduate of Central Bible College, Springfield, MO

B.A, Bible & History, 1982

(Concentration in music)

 

Mark has pastored twenty years (since 1981) in Ohio and Maryland. Has been pastor at Cornerstone A/G since 1994.

 

Mark and Dee have been married nineteen years. They have two children, David and Matthew.

 

Mark’s            basic philosophy in his ministry — Lift up Jesus, not any man.

Prayer is the key to everything.

 

Why Urban Outreach: Pastor Mark has truly partnered with the UO Team to help

transform the Urban Outreach Center into a spiritual hospital that will minister to the hurting people of Southeast Washington, DC.



Rev. St. Clair Mitchell

Director of Church Development and Home Missions

 

St. Clair Mitchell was born and raised in the British West Indies where he met the Lord Jesus at the age of 18. Shortly after he was called to the ministry, and through a miracle of God’s provision, was sponsored by an American family to attend Bible College in the United States.

 

Upon his graduation, St. Clair returned to his island nation of Dominica, where he served as a pastor for twelve years. He was instrumental in the pioneering of several churches and served as pastor to the 700 members of the “People’s Church.” He also served on the district presbytery in various capacities including District Superintendent.

 

In 1991, the Mitchell family moved to the United States. Brother Mitchell accepted a position as Executive Director of STEP Ministry (Strategies to Elevate People) in Richmond, Virginia.

 

An ordained minister with the Assemblies of God, St. Clair presently serves in the Potomac District as the Director of Church Development and Home Missions.

 

He holds an associate degree in practical theology from Christ for the Nations Institute in Dallas, TX and a Bachelor of Science degree in Church Ministries from North Central University in Minneapolis, MN.

 

St. Clair and his wife, Judith, have three daughters and a son.

 

Why Urban Outreach: St. Clair serves on the board of Urban Outreach by virtue of his office as Director of Church Development and Home Missions. St. Clair has often declared, “Washington, DC, shall see the glory of God!” His leadership on the board is vital to the success of the vision of Urban Outreach.



Rev. Mike Zello

Teen Challenge International

 

Mike Zello is an appointed Assemblies of God foreign missionary to Teen Challenge International.

 

Mike has been associated with Teen Challenge since it’s beginning in 1958, when he worked under David Wilkerson, the organization’s founder. He has directed programs for over 35 years including 5 years at the original center in Brooklyn, NY, and 25 years as executive director of Teen Challenge of Washington, DC. Mike served for many years as a member of the Teen Challenge Board of Directors and as the Eastern Regional representative in the United States. In 1971, he assisted the US military in Vietnam with their drug education and rehabilitation programs. Mike has also pastored two churches including pioneering New Life Assembly of God in Capital Heights, MD.

 

Mike was born and raised in New York City in a church atmosphere. As a teen, he fell away, but was reconverted after a near-death accident at the age of 16. Mike and his wife Kay have four grown children, all of whom are serving God in full time ministry. Because of their years of experience and success in Teen Challenge, they have been asked to serve with Teen Challenge International to help establish new centers worldwide.

 

Why Urban Outreach: Mike serves on the Board of Urban Outreach because, “The ministry was born in my heart and Ken took over where I left off.” Mike continues to carry a deep burden for the inner city and an excitement to share his years of urban ministry experience and wisdom.
